Autores como Seirul-lo, Asirón y Lloret ya trataban hace años de la necesidad de establecer un entrenamiento específico para los deportistas lesionados. El término «entrenamiento» implica tanto el mantenimiento de forma durante la lesión como la ayuda mediante un determinado tipo de ejercicios a la mejora de la zona anatómica lesionada.
Entendemos por LESIÓN: La presencia de un daño funcional o estructural de un tejido, que impide al deportista rendir al máximo y que, en ocasiones, le obliga a guardar reposo y a someterse a diferentes tipos de tratamientos, con las consecuencias relacionadas sobre su estado físico deportivo que ello conlleva.
Es un proceso que tiene dos objetivos diferenciados:
La finalidad es volver a educar movimientos y gestos deportivos que el deportista ya realizaba con maestría anteriormente y que se han visto entorpecidos por la aparición de la lesión, habilidades que debe volver a ejecutar con el mismo nivel de eficacia anterior.
Abordamos este proceso basándonos en los dos objetivos anteriormente mencionados, sin descuidar la condición física durante todo el proceso, el control de peso y el apoyo psicológico.
